Rookie classes Intro and PPE were held this weekend. We had a great turnout of newer firefighters that are eager to be a part of the fire service and we are thrilled to have them join our firefighter family! Their journey is not over. It is only beginning and there is much to learn and practice to be ready for any call that might be given. But these folks have already shown great attitudes and energy to learn our ways. We look forward to helping them develop in to fantastic first responders.
October is Fire Safety month and normally we would share with school-aged children in the classroom but we know that everyone can benefit with some info and helpful hints to stay safe at home.

Each year we see our responses to structure fire calls increase when home heating is supplemented with the use of fireplaces or woodstoves. However you plan to heat your home this year, please plan for safety with pre-season cleaning and inspection from a certified technician so you have a safe and warm winter season. Removing creosote buildup from last season and finding or fixing flaws or weaknesses in your heat system can prevent deadly chimney fires. Stay safe!
