We had a fantastic time participating in the Annual Ferndale Christmas Parade. Each year this event grows to an even larger group of characters and vehicles to celebrate the season! Thanks to all that came out to participate. As always, we increase our candy for distribution but always run out as the crowds grow larger. We will get more candy and see you next year!

CPR Saves Lives
Press hard and fast in the center of the chest…… WPFD is teaching another CPR class today at our Station 2 on Kanis Road. Firefighters take this class and refresh their skills every 2 years as a part of regular training on CPR, Oxygen therapy, Automatic external defribillation AED, choking and more.

Heater Safety
Cold days and nights are upon us as winter gets closer. Remember that if you use electric space heaters to supplement your home heating, using extension cords to connect them is NEVER a good idea. Only connect heaters to a wall outlet to keep the wiring from overheating and causing a fire that you surely don’t want.
Stay Safe!

Is your chimney ready for winter?
We have some pics of our structure fire this evening near Hawk Valley involving a chimney fire that spread to the attic of the home. This fire goes in the WIN column for an effective save. Great work to our team for a fast fire attack! This is a good reminder, and an unfortunate tradition we’ve had over some last years, to have structure fires of this type around and on holidays while folks are being festive. This is not our first fire on Turkey Day. So here is a reminder to have your chimney or wood stove cleaned every year and inspected for proper operation before a chimney/flue fire occurs at your home. It can save your house and maybe the lives of someone you love….and yourself. Thanks for the quick help from Crystal Fire, Collegeville Fire, and Paron Fire for the assistance.
Burning safety. Watch out for high winds.
WPFD responded to a grass fire in the 33000 block of Kanis Road today for an area of 4-5 acres. Dry conditions and wind in the area near a recent campfire likely contributed to this burn and could have been worse when a propane tank was located in the middle of the burn area. Crews quickly got the fire under control and minimized the spread. We always encourage you to make sure you FULLY extinguish your fires before leaving them unattended. Conditions right now can be unpredictable and it may be dry or not wet enough for the rest of this week. Stay safe!
